Hypogonadism, or low testosterone, is a disorder in which the body does not create enough of the hormone. In the US, 4 to 5 million men have low testosterone, or hypogonadism. The hormone testosterone is essential to the health and happiness of men. These are a few typical reasons for low testosterone:
1. Growing older: Men’s testosterone levels naturally decrease as they age. Although this is a typical aspect of aging, it might result in low testosterone symptoms.
2. Medical conditions: A number of illnesses, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, stress, heart failure, HIV/AIDS, and obstructive sleep apnea, can result in low testosterone levels.
3. Medications: Drugs like opioids, glucocorticoids, corticosteroids, and anabolic steroids can all lower testosterone levels.
4. Testicular damage or cancer: Low testosterone levels can result from testicular damage or testicular cancer.
5. Illicit drug use: Using painkillers and anabolic steroids in particular can result in decreased testosterone levels.
6. Xenobiotics are environmental substances that act like hormones in the body. Men’s average testosterone levels have been steadily declining over time, according to research. The numerous environmental poisons that have collected over time may be partly to blame for this. The following are the primary poisons that we currently understand: BPA, or bisphenol A. Plastics contain BPA. Don’t microwave food in plastic containers to prevent it. Avoid purchasing products in plastic containers with the numbers 3, 6, or 7 inscribed in the triangle. Phthalates. Plastics, coatings, lubricants, and binders all employ these compounds. Many can be found in personal care items like shampoos and colognes. Organophosphates. The majority of them are present in pesticides and herbicides. When at all possible, choose organic foods to stay away from them.
